Stand Out
In this, my first original track, I wanted to include all the crazy flute sounds that I love to explore, including singing and playing, pitch bending, flutter tonguing and of course beatboxing.
The title of the track is a nod to Jethro Tull's second studio album 'Stand Up' which was the first to feature the many influences which would become part of their distinctive sound. It also reflects my own feelings towards music and flute playing - I spent many years trying to fit into a purely classical world as a performer and whilst I love to perform classical music, it's not the only genre that I love. As my confidence in exploring different flute techniques has grown, I'm finally able to stand out and share my love for all kinds of music through my flute playing - and I love it!
